Home

OK, home now. Starting tonight, I'm going to finally get the picture thing worked out so I can post them. Probably will pin them to the GPS tracks or to Google Earth rather than in the individual posts. Not sure the best way. Open to suggestions.

First thing though is to edit the sizes so they fit on a web page. Right now they are high resolution files and need to be edited.

  1. Get posting some pics Dave! - everyone is waiting in great anticipation!

I used a very simple image re-sizer by Microsoft which is very simple. Download here:

That link is safe. Once you install it, you simply right click on the image and choose a couple options and viola you are done. No guess work......Hope that helps.

  2. Got it. The size of the pic is only part of the issue. I need to go through about 970 pictures and select the best. Then attach them to the tracks in GoogleEarth. Although I'm very happy with GPSed as a live-tracking tool, most people are more comfortable with Google Earth's format.

Plus, I'm home now, which means catch up on other thngs in life that have been on hold for over a month.

I'll have many pictures ready by the weekend.

  3. Dave!

I am wondering if this is nice gentleman I met at the coldfoot visitor center parking lot the 4th of July weekend?

We spoke motorcycles for a while and you filled me in on your incredible journey cross country on your Srato.

If so I am glad that you made it home safe and sound. And that you were able to cash up in Fairbanks. Keep riding!

  4. Hi Susie,

Yes I am. Glad you found the blog. I'm still working on pictures and getting them posted.

I don't know if I explained this in the blog, but the wallet I lost ended up getting home before I did. A nice young woman who manages the Hilltop Truck Stop found it and took the time to track me down to make sure I wasn't stranded somewhere before she mailed it home to me.

Thanks again for chatting with me at the visitor center that day. It helped to get me over an emotional low spot in the trip, since I was wrestling with the disappointment of not being able to make it to at least Atigun Pass (I had already dialed back from going all the way to Prudhoe). It was good to talk to a sympathetic person at that moment in time.

Thanks again and I hope you are able to find time to explore many great roads on your own motorcycle.
